how to be productive – Gabriel Style. :)
Hi there,
As you may know, building a business can be tough.
It requires a lot of hard work, and will.
Will to keep fighting and moving forward even when adversity strikes.
I say this because my “WILL” is being tested again.
You see, I am currently working on a project which is taking longer than expected to complete due to some unforeseen issues.
A few times I have been tempted to just leave the project.
But then again, I am well aware that I became successful because of my ability to set goals and move towards them no matter what.
Needless to say, I will NOT move into another project until this one is complete. Period.
I want to advise you to do the same.
Do not leave unfinished projects.
Finish what you start.
Sometimes you may be working on something, then months go by, and you may say…
“This idea won’t work anymore… it got old”
So you move on to something new.
Listen, FINISH it.
Here’s a quote I like:
“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals”
So, even if you project fails miserably (which btw, a lot of them will), you can still checkmark this as a SUCCESS. Just the fact that you were able to complete your project will put you one step ahead of those who simply get “great ideas” but they never turn them into reality.
Also, if you “strikeout” on enough projects… you will eventually hit one that produces the results you are after.
The key here is to finish what you start.
Furthermore, an idea in your head is worthless if it stays there. You need to start working on it and make a commitment to finish it, even if doubt starts to creep up on you.
One Piece At A Time:
It is easy to get distracted and even easier to procrastinate.
You check your email, visit forums, go to YouTube, check your facebook account, go to Twitter, chat with your buddy on Messenger, and by the time you know it… a few hours went by and you didn’t get anything productive done.
Sound familiar?
Believe me… I’m that kind of person.
I get easily distracted and being “productive” is as hard for me as it may be for you.
THE SOLUTION?
I want to share with you what I’ve been doing lately to get as much productive work done on a daily basis.
First of all, if you make a commitment to “work” on productive activities just 2 hours a day, I guarantee you’ll be amazed by how much you can get done. But again, the hard part is to lock the distractions out, get your “work face” on and start getting things done.
Here’s what I am doing:
I wake up and write up a small list of productive things to do.
For example:
- Tweak my ad words account.
- Create a new ad words campaign.
- Talk to my Programmer about X issue.
- Load up the emails into aweber.
- Talk to “X Marketer” about doing an ad swap.
So, now I know my tasks for the day. If I do this, I know I did something productive. Little things that if done often enough will lead to bigger better things.
Next…
When I’m about to get my “work face” on, I put on my headphones and play a song that pumps me up.
I put the song on “repeat” and work on my task until I’m done.
That’s it. That’s what I do and it’s been working wonderfully for me.
Now, my taste of music may be way different than yours… I personally get motivated to a “rap” song. Which I am sure a lot of my subscribers hate. LOL
But that’s not important. Just find a song that gets you going, and be productive!
Now… I thought about this long and hard…
I didn’t want to post the song because some people may be offended (the raw version is a little explicit, but the one I listen to had the bad words removed)
Anyhow, I decided to post it because I realized that I won’t be prosecuted for placing a song I like on my blog, right?
The “hook” says:
“This is…
10% luck
20% skill
15% concentrated power of will
5% pleasure and 50% percent pain
and 100% reason to remember the name”
And honestly, the reason I like it is because (for me) running a successful internet business feels like it is … 10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power of will, 5% pleasure and 50% percent pain.
Sound Crazy? May be.
The Song:
Here’s a link to the song:
If I offended you in any way, sorry. Im just being me. Keeping it real you know.
All the best,
Gabriel
PS: Feel free to post your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you have to say. And if you have a song that “pumps you up” -- tell me about it.

Hi Gabriel,
I agree 100 % with your views and philosophy! There are two more components that need exclamation:
1. Persistance
2. Persistance
Keep it up friend and God bless!
Guillaume
Hey you have your right to listen to what you want. If some one is offended by that then they are the one with the problem. Your wisdom is sound and that is the most important thing here. Anybody within the range of this blog should focus on what you offer in the way of success help and not worry that you like Rap. I prefer Rock-N-Roll my self. A lot of people I hang with listen to all kinds of different music, heck my kids don’t’ like what I listen to but they do respect me and my judgment. I guess what I am saying is, that if a person is so petty that they judge your choice of music, they would never get you message of success through productivity any way. Good points Gabriel, and if they don’t want to know, forget-em.
I made a run on this business last winter when I became too sick to work. I failed really bad, but I learned so much, so personally, I don’t look at it as all lost..
In March, on the brink of disaster finacially, I went back to work. Blow or go was the order of the day for my heart.
Everything worked out, and I was able to hit a pretty good lick the rest of the year. Now I’m home again and laid off and looking at this business again. Looking to pick up where I left off, but for the last week at home, I am thinking that what I was doing wasn’t working, so why not change directions somewhat. This is where your article hits home with me! I sit in here everyday, and I have yet to get anything done. Always something distracting me. Another video, another Email and so on. Somehow I have to find a way to concentrate my thoughts on a plan, and take some action. Before, I was pretty good at this. I worked my ass off on purpose! Maybe if I had stayed at it, I would have seen some results, but now looking at the web site etc, I doubt that. (I am rebuilding the site plus one other)
Just my thoughts, Thanks for the info!

Thank you for the post. I find I get distracted easily and by the time I know it, the day is over and I got very little accomplished. I too have to make a list of my daily tasks and it’s just nice to know that I’m not the only one! Have a great day!
Gabriel,
Read it – Loved It! Right on – Great work.
Wow..amazing posting. I think this a good idea for me to plan my activity to get as much productive work done on a daily basis. Thaks You…

You know Gabriel,
Willpower! What ever motivates you and gives you the willpower to move forward, keep with it! I totally here where you are coming from. Jumping from program to program, you won’t get anywhere. So many fun things to do on this world wide web, its so easy to get distracted.
I have been working on a project very similar to your secrets, for over a year. I have thought about bagging it. Getting off track here and there. Even deleted it all, and started over…couple times.
Constantly distracted from my goal.
Your inspiiration to be dedicated, gave me inspiration! I need to
dedicate a couple of hours a day to just my project. Not just an hour a week or two weeks. Stay focused!
I totally enjoyed reading your blog!

Good on yah Gabriel! The message I got was “Finish what you start, you’ll be better because of it.” Some of my early learning in personal development highly recommended to set aside a block of time daily for “study-thinking-planning time”. Not only does it maintain clarity with where you’re going and why, it frees up your power to be applied with precision because you’re not stuck in your head thinking about it, you’re doing it!

I was not offended! In fact, it motivated me to get more organised and plan my focus for the rest of the month. Thanx!
Good post; clean and simple and helpful
Thanks for the music reminder. My tastes are
different, but the principal is so true. Have to
get back to that. Music is really good for focus.
Gabriel, you hit the nail on the head. I can’t think of anything worse than distraction and procrastination, it’s kind of a disease that interferes with productiveness and goal achievement and does impact our entire life. Like you, I’m trying to fight it using all means available.
Hi Gabriel, it’s funny, I wrote my first article on the topic of staying focused and am still working on that. Just like you, I’ve been looking to form a schedule that works to help me complete tasks. I find myself working on 2 tasks usually because of the language issue and marketing to 2 different cultures (english=grabitupmarketing.com) so it really is important to find a system that works and stay tuned. I basically avoid opening emails first cause that will kill my day. I write 3-4 must DOs and get to work on those until they’re accomplished. Ofcourse I deal with customer issues right away. Unfortunately most music (like rap and salsa) will prove too distracting for me, so unless you got something trance-like to suggest, I’ll just keep humming
Thanks for sharing and much continued success to you.
Hi Gabriel,
You did not offend me one bit. This is still a FREE country. It is none of anyone’s business what we do as long as we don’t break the Law.
Just keep up the good work and don’t pay attention what anyone thinks.
I am an Elvis freak myself. I like the 50s & 60s Rock & Roll. I put my radio om a station that plays it and I leave it there.

Hi Gabriel,
Don’t forget to eat healthy for mental clarity and the energy you need to get the job done!
You might want to try writing up your ‘to-do’ list the night before. That gives your subconcious mind time to come up with ideas.
Mozart is supposed to make you smarter. Hasn’t worked for me. Stick with what works for you.
Stay Productive
Carole
your idea is 80% accepted by me.

Hi,
You’re blog was right on time. I have been working on starting a internet business for a little more than a year. I knew nothing about the internet when I started.
Long story short, we’ve gone from a 750 credit rating to declaring bankruptcy as the result of my lack of knowledge and naivety.
I’ve worked very hard, but recently, I’ve felt like may be I should pursue something else. However, I two projects for the internet business that I haven’t completed.
So I will hang in there a while longer. I know that I could help alot of people when I get this going.
I think I’ll use your plan. I might need to wait to check my email until after I’ve finished the 2 hours.
Love the quote.
Always enjoy your material mate interesting that the video is not allowed in Australia (This video is not available in your country.)
The main thrust of what you state, the ability to focus and Block your time is very crucial.
like many I see the potential in an online marketing business to be able to have control over your earning capacity, and still be able to do something you enjoy without being tied to the pay by the hour drudgery.
It is not the huge amounts of money in 10 minutes claims that attracts me but just being able to have a business that is portable and not dependent on turning up and punching the clock for an unappreciative Boss.
Still not there but I definitely do not want to give up on the using the internet as a direct marketing business mode.l
Brilliant and thank you.
When the going gets tough I sit the night before and plan the next day. My first priorities on the list are “is this going to make me money now” the next priority is “will this make me money in the near future” then I add 2 hours for fun and pleasure (forums, chat, reading news etc) I find that if I put in the first 6 hours of the day to the first I have a good month. (This includes customer service in the top priority) Email and news are the two killers, I look at my email and answer everything in the morning then shut down the email, and look at it again mid day and then shut it down. Then I leave it open later in the day and evening. I ensure all emails are answered by the end of everyday.
My weakness is starting a “brilliant idea” and never finishing it. So thanks – I will be listing each project in priority and set time aside for them each day until done.
Well, thanks for reminders…
All those months i’ve thinking to myself. That’s why i haven’t suceed yet!
Too many projects and too many focus.
Thank You SiFu!
Hi Gabriel:
I have to admit it, I am not fan of rap music.
But, after listening to the song 3 times, I started to empathize with the singer.
This is the second time in my life that I make an effort to feel the emotions in a rap song. After a while it start to feel similar emotions as by listenign the 5th SYMPHONY by Bethoven….well after all both musics are trying to bring heroic emotions out.
On the other hand, I am a newbie in this business. I am determined to crack the code of SUCCESS WITH THE INTERNET.
Thank you
PD: Hope to become a GOOD INTERNET MARKETER.
the music is fine, to each their own, and the blog is amazing. You have alot of useful content, thanks
