"Success is merely a byproduct of constant, unadulterated failure."
I have never heard it worded like that before - but it does strike a chord with me, for sure. As I have also failed more than not, I drew some inspiration from your post. I did however get a giggle thinking of success as a 'byproduct' of anything. Kudos, I think I will bookmark your blog for next time I feel like I need a pick-me-up.
P.S. I haven't seen UFC 104 yet so I wish you hadn't mentioned Shogun losing - never mind, I guess you needed to draw an analogy from somewhere.
Thanks.

Thanks for this post, Gabriel. It came along at just the right time for me. It's been a huge up and down year for me, mostly down, and today I had actually decided it would only be logical to just quit. After 5 years of struggling and bemoaning the elusive goal, I figured if this online marketing wasn't even paying for itself, then why go on? But then I read your email/post, and I decided to ramp up my efforts again. It's hard, but it's hard for everyone... unless they are already wealthy and related to someone who can support them while they make the journey to success. Going it alone always takes longer, but if it's all you have, it's what you do.

Thanks for the shot in the arm! Back to work!

Been reading the blog post after some rather discouraging news and it did me good, as it is so easy to take things personally and feel everyone has an easier time than you. I have to realise that failure is part of life, it happens to us all to some degree, and what matters is how we deal with it. Thanks, Gabriel

If one thinks of failure as a learning curve, learns from it and moves on the successes will come. Unfortunately the way that we learn is through adversity so accept that you have something to learn and make sure that you do or you will remain stuck.

Failure is just part of the learning process. But I think the advice to fail faster is wrong. That encourages people to rush through things, and of course your chance for failure is even higher.

I think the corret advice is to do the best job that you humanly can, and if it's not working accpet that and move on instead of sticking with something that clearly isn't working.

I think the other side of the coin is that people hold on to something that is never going to work far too long - and then instead of trying something new, just give up.

And even then, is the the whole idea that was bad, or just a tactic? You you scrap the whole thing, or just try it a new way?

It takes time and persistance to get good at something, but people want everything instant. I think the whole world instant has been the greatest disservice to humanity. Heck, even to win the lottery, you have to keep buying tickets...

I agree -- failure does suck.
But, as I point out to my coaching clients...
Stuff happens as we go through life. The important thing is not what happens but how we deal with what happens. Choose to learn from failures, and you'll become a success.

Everybody fails. It is a part of life, a learning process. As babies we learn to stand up only to fall on our backsides. The important thing is that we stand back up again. If as a baby once we fell, if we had just refused to get up and try again, we would have never learned to walk. The same goes for us as adults. We will fail. This is our destiny. How we handle the failure is what matters, not that we fail. If we fall down and just sit there, we will never reach our goals. One thing about the baby that falls on its but, it gets back up again and again until it learns to stand, then to walk and then finally it runs. We to must learn to get back up again until we learn to succeed.
