Hype or Big Hype?
Wednesday February 7th, 2007 @ 8:19 pmHi There,
Gabriel Aguiñaga here…
Okay, I’ve had enough of all the “copy & paste” emails regarding the new DJK (Day Job Killer) product.
Seriously, it’s so irritating to get the same email from about 20 different marketers…
Geez, most don’t even bother changing the subject line.
I mean… Do they think I’m stupid or something?
Anyhow, yesterday your inbox probably received an influx of emails regarding the new ebook called “Day Job Killer” – and consequently, I received many emails from my loyal subscribers asking stuff like:
- “Gabriel, what did you think of the ebook?”
- “Are you going to review it?”
To be honest, I wasn’t going to buy the product.
You see, back when Chris released “Affiliate Project X” he invited me to be a JV partner and hooked me up with a free copy of the ebook.
Well, I liked the ebook but I also felt the sales letter was WAY too hyped up and the product wasn’t really “that” incredible.
Affiliate Project X was a good product, yes; but I ended up deciding not to endorse it because I felt the content fell way short of the sales letter “hypey” claims.
SIDENOTE: His sales letters are amazing; if you know his copywriter, let me know.
Lets continue…
I bought DJK yesterday night after finding out that many of you were sitting on the fence, just waiting to here my thoughts about it.
So here I go:
One thing remains the same, the HYPEY sales letter.
If you read it, it’s sure to make you feel like you’ll hit the big times by next week.
So killer copywriting, accompanied with a couple of ClickBank screenshots showing insane earnings; well, it makes it pretty hard to resist.
All hype aside…
Using Google Adwords to drive targeted traffic IS very important; in fact, I spend about $100- $150 per day on Adwords.
Adwords is not new to me, but I DID throw a lot of money down the hole before my campaigns became profitable.
It’s just the price of trial & error.
Back to DJK…
Chris, the creator, does make HUGE income online and he definitely does have some cool tricks up his sleeve.
I read the ebook in one sitting (its quite short, 69 pages) and I caught myself smiling and noting my head up & down more than once (this is a good sign)
So, I was totally unaware of some of the technique he teaches, and I “probably” will be implementing them…
But… (There’s always a “but”)
DJK does NOT get my full endorsement because most of the techniques are a bit complex & I believe it will be difficult for the average marketer to apply.
PLUS, if you are the type of person who buys stuff & doesn’t take action… don’t even bother. Save your money.
Also, since A LOT of people will now have access to these techniques, they WILL become obsolete. It’s just a matter of time.
Look at what happened to BFM websites (Butterfly Marketing Sites); sure, the script/strategy rocks but they aren’t nearly as effective as they once were.
Why?
Because they are all over the place & people have somewhat become immune to them.
Back To DJK (Yet Again)
The last two strategies in the ebook are very interesting and I am actually looking forward to implementing them in the near future; mainly because they run less risk of getting saturated because they involve OFFLINE marketing methods.
Overall:
I did like Day Job Killer, but I believe it will not easily “Kill” as many Jobs as it suggests it will.
So please, don’t buy the product thinking it will make you rich overnight.
Let me rephrase that…
Don’t buy ANY product thinking it will make you rich overnight.
Be prepared to do some work.
Furthermore, if you are interested in playing the Google Adwords game, then you should probably grab a copy (After all, Chris does know what he’s doing)
And remember I told you earlier that I lost a lot of money on Adwords when I first started… Well, I’m sure I wouldn’t have lost so much (maybe none) if I had this ebook back then.
Bottom line…
Don’t get sucked in by all the hype, okay?
You can get (or don’t get) a copy here.
I hope you enjoyed this post and don’t forget to leave your comments.
That’s all for now…
Take Care & God Bless!
To Your Success,
Gabriel Aguinaga

Great review. I was going to buy it but I get really turned off when everyone and their brother promotes something. In fact I am so anti “sledge hammer” marketing that I have opted to not purchase it. I suppose that is my mantra this year if the “guru’s” are pushing it I’m not interested. Between this promotion the world this world that I am full up.
I am looking for quiet under the radar books and programs. My favorite can be found at affiliate2profit.com and vision2profit.com. No hype just honest straight forward instruction and payment plans.
Thank you for your honesty, I love when you give it straight and this is why I subscribe to your newsletter. Keep it coming.

Hi Gabriel,
I always like your review. I am not going to comment about DJK here.
1 thing i must say, I was tired of all the emails i getting now from all the marketers. Oh man, what irritates me the most is many of them send at least twice or 3 times reminding you about DJK.
So if you are in 20 different list, the actual count is actually 40-60 emails!!

Big hype. I got the same 20 emails - from the same “gurus”, same old, same old. I signed up for these guru newsletters because I thought they make actually provide some interesting content, some marketing crumbs of wisdom from the head table…..but no it’s just the usual cut and paste JV BS yet again. Looks like we are not the only ones who are getting a little tired of all hype and no beef: http://lostballinhighweeds.com/day-job-killer/i-did-not-buy-day-job-killer/
Okay, there are a few people who provide decent info you can actually use - like Perry Marshall (you can buy his book on amazon.com for $16 - less than a quarter of the price of DKJ but 100 times better value!) or the ezseo newsletter - at least these people provide some useful info and try to help you - but the rest - they just shovel the latest “must have” ebook down your throat and when you buy into the hype and cough up the dough you are left thinking - is that it?!
Anyway, I read here: http://www.scam.com/showthread.php?t=22106 that DJK probably “offers NO VALUE WHATSOEVER based upon all the other useless garbage Chris has sold” - so like you William Buckley I am opting not to buy it.

Hi Gabriel,
Thanks for the “straight skinny” on DJK.
Wish I had seen this before I bought, but like you said,
it’s hard to resist when you have a great sales page.
I’m really tired of all the emails as well. I got most of mine after
I had already ordered. I agree with Alfred, that you get almost
double emails from all the gurus.
I’m pretty new at this internet marketing game, and have spent
a fortune on this program and that program—nothing seems to work.
It’s refreshing to have someone out there that will be truly honest, and not feed you a bunch of hype.
Thanks again,
Randy

Thank you Gaby,
I knew it already that DJK is not for me, and it is a to big hat for my head, but as you said, the sales letter is awesome.
The pergamon style background also. I ask myself how did they did it.
Maybe they took a sheet of paper, creased it, unfolded it, than scanned it and used for
background ~:-).
Thank you again.
Good luck,
Emeric

Hello Gabriel,
I just wanted to thank you for that very level-headed, honest, and unbiased review. I’ve read a couple of reviews, but yours is the one that made me “feel safe.” I knew you were giving vital information without making me feel like I’m walking down a trap where I needed to get DJK.
Somehow, I get the impression that you respected the intelligence and dignity of anyone reading your report. Your “you can get (or not get)…” statement was so cool.
Thanks once again.

Thanks for the honest review, Gabriel. You are one of the few to do so. Being a student of sales copy, I read the DJK sales letter - very hypey, but powerful. I made up my mind last week that I wasn’t going to buy it. I promised myself that I would not buy any “how to make money” products this year. My focus is on my business model, thinking smart and working smart. Buying another e-book isn’t going to make you any money.
You made an excellent point about the DJK methods becoming obsolete - its just a matter of time. Its going to be interesting when the Project X buyers (who didn’t buy DJK) start picking off the DJK type promotions
Keep up the good work Gabriel.

Hello Gabriel,
I mayself was upset by all of the emails I recieved about djk, and you stating 20, was very low. I recieved over 200 the first day, and am still getting them.
No offense to Chris, but he priced it way out of the average marketer’s range, so this made it another example of the little guy not getting a chance to be successful.
So I am not purchasing it, and will not accept it even as a free download. I am sick and tired of only the big names making the money off the little people like me.

I was on the fence.
I knew it was supreme copywriting; and that pergamon, yes, that too, was an excellent attraction; but I’m glad I found your review of it. I can’t afford much more marketing materials right now, and I’m too busy trying to get a handle on all the ones I have already spent good money on.
Where you said,
, I have to wonder a little about that. I mean, don’t we order these products in order to learn techniques that we don’t already know; and how “complex” can they get? I have to wonder what you mean by “complex”.
But really, thank you for an excellent review. I’m getting back to work on my master plan to finally take some action this year and kill my “night” job. (I’m a dinner waiter).

With regards to comlex in DJX, chris tends to assume you have some IM marketing skills already, so his descriptions are very whirlwind, with no guidance on setting any thing up.
Estefar makes a very intresting point here - we are assured that digital delivery is what ensures low costs, but how can $97 dollars for a digital report be low cost when you can pick up a 300 page hardback book from amazon for only $16? I think we may be getting ripped off, not just by DJK, but ANY digital report that costs more than $10. You cannot justify those prices when compared with traditional priniting methods.

Hello from Kansas, I wish I had found your site sooner. When I get a new email—if it goes on and on and on .I won’t buy it.
Plain and simple. Sheryl

this is my first visit to this blog and I will be back. I read almost everything that I get and agree, so much is the same, until this blog. I have never read such honest feedback like this.

You don not post often enough as your reviews and comments are spot on. I had purchased DJK from Chris directly and have implemented a couple of the techniques with limited results.
One of the comments you made here is probable the most important - if you are not going to take the time to apply what is in the manual, don’t waste your money.
